hi i’m liz

It all started when…

My mom taught me how to sew when I was young, and I started out making doll clothes and quilts. I went to school for Fashion Design and was fortunate enough to spend two of my summers and a semester studying abroad in Paris. When I graduated I purchased a one way ticket to Paris, and taught English while I interned during several fashion weeks for Elie Saab. As amazing as it was living in France, I soon found out that speaking only two lanquages wouldn’t land you a real job in fashion. When my year teaching wrapped up, I moved back to the states and spent years starting various businesses in the fashion industry. From a jewelry business with a friend to custom couture wedding gowns, I tried it all. I showed my first bridal collection at Charlotte Fashion Week in 2010, and eventually landed in a real job working for RuffleButts, a small children’s clothing company. I learned invaluable skills there about running a successful business as well as photography and web design skills. I was fortunate enough to help with designing some of the clothing, planning photo shoots and a variety of amazing things.

Fast forward to a move out west and having our two kiddos, I switched over to the Interiors side of design and worked for a small design shop in Portland making custom pillows. When we moved back to NC, sewing projects for a few friends turned into a new business. I started out doing a little of everything from camper cushions to upholstery to cafe curtains. I'm grateful for the experience that came from learning how to reupholster pieces, and the practice from the hundreds of cushions that I've made. Styled with Navy has evolved since then into a local workroom for cushions and pillows only, along with an online pillow shop where I feed my creativity by creating fun mix and match designer pillows.

The move to to Winston Salem in the summer of 2020 is when business really took off. We purchased a 100 year old home in Ardmore and have done two renovations since, and completely redone the entire space. By chance our house was featured in the WS Monthly, and it launched my decorating services.

I am so grateful for all of my amazing clients here in town, and to have the luxury of running my own business that I love
