A Fresh and Colorful Updated Home

This sweet family with young boys decided they were ready to turn this into their forever home. Their backyard is amazing, and the amount of space was perfect, so they brought me in to help with space planning for two of their main rooms that were not working out for them.

We started with a 2d floorplan, to finalize the options they liked best, and from there turned it into a 3D model so they could see their new space before purchasing a single new piece of furniture.

Let's start with the before photos …

Let’s take a look at the 3D Design that we settled on, and then how it all turned out! You can see all of the 3D photos here!

The new spaces turned out like the 3D, but sooo much better! I obviously love that they wanted to add blues and teals throughout the space, and I had so much fun helping to select all of the furnishings. Let’s look at the sweetest banquette nook first, that we created from scratch. They had a high table and chairs here before, which we got rid of, and we had a custom bench built to fit into the bay window perfectly. A nice bright white, along with a chic white pedestal table kept things neutral, and we added the color in the cushion and pillows. A single glass pendant light updates the space.

The cushion is a washable performance fabric, perfect for the breakfast nook, and the pillows are such fun, also performance, prints! Citrus Garden is one of my absolute favorites, and it pops against the other prints.

The Living Room got a complete transformation! Fresh white paint… bye builder beige… and new hardwood floors to match the rest of the house. The fireplace also received a facelift with new gray and white tile, which made a huge difference.

We kept the sofa and leather chair, and rearranged the room, adding a new colorful rug, cozy daybed bench under the window, a large gallery wall with family photos, and a new light. And obviously pillows to tie it all together.

The adjoining room was the playroom, and we turned it into a cozy den with a full wall of built ins to house the TV, books and all of the kids toys. A large velvet sectional creates room for everyone to kick back and watch a movie together, and the leather ottoman is durable - perfect for a family home. A neutral wool rug with subtle blue and green tones carries our colors throughout, and the mix and match pillows pop!

I wallpapered the backs of the custom built in with the prettiest seafoam grasscloth, which pops and adds texture. We left the built in the pretty light natural wood, so it would be light and bright, but add some variation with the white walls.

I am so happy with how this space turned out! It’s colorful but light and bright.
